Major assignment - Concept

I am going to explore animation and film, utilising stop motion animation and music, combining them to create a short music video in stop motion.

Firstly combining my own selection of music, I will create a compilation track, making one unique song from many. I will achieve this using the Soundtrack Pro program. This program will contribute to the layering and editing of songs. Thus once the song is created, it will give the video a unique feel.

The music video will be a detailed depiction of a simple story – group of friends go on an adventure; it will include three major scenes – the video will be created through stop motion animation – using 1075 images, equalling 00:01:30 of footage – video clip to be shot using a standard digital camera (Canon IXUS 70). Also a Polaroid and analogue camera will be included to help with the effects and stylisation of the video. I will include this old technology to enhance the aesthetics, trying to attain a modern age underground characteristic.

Software - Adobe After Effects CS4 - Photoshop CS4 - Soundtrack Pro

The music video will communicate a sense of reality; it won’t be a polished, commercial piece with professional filming. I want the viewer to feel like their involved in the story, which means the filming technique must be real life. Inspiration came from music clips such as; mstrkrft - HeartBreaker, Kings of convenience - Boat Behind. Which both contain a raw style, and real life scenes, with intriguing film techniques. Photographer Elo Vázquez has an underground approach, something i want to replicate when taking my images.
